Tech Moms

I loved the panel discussion! As I always say - I'm self taught on all my gadgets but it's always good to go hear other people so you can check your facts. I met 4 ladies that I am now following on Twitter. I tweeted along with the process. Last year for this class I started a blog - I'm not skilled in that area, yet. So it is just hanging out in space waiting for me to get back around to that platform. Right now I'm busy reading blogs, fb, and tweets.

Half the fun of social media

Half the fun of social media is reading what else is out there! Keeping up with a blog is a surprising amount of work, so blog when the mood strikes, that's totally okay. We're happy to hear you like the discussion and panelists, we love them, too. -Marian

Blogs

Wednesday's #TechMom panel discussion on social media and the use of Twitter was interesting. There is a lot of information transferred around on Twitter. I'm hesitant to participate, A friend of mine was hammered by a comment that she made recently. Someone thought her to be insensitive and I could see both sides. Is thick skin a pre-requisite for Twittering?

The thing with Twitter is

The thing with Twitter is that your tweets, unless they're private, can be seen by anyone, including people with different viewpoints. So, unlike with an e-mail where you typically know how the receiver will respond, tweets might be misinterpreted by people you don't know. And sarcasm and irony don't usually translate well in written messages. I think the best thing to do is to read over anything you tweet and make sure it's something you're okay with being associated with you. And, there's always the delete button (although that doesn't delete it from your Followers' feeds).
