This week's topic was fun stuff to do online--everything from crafting to shopping!

Thing:  Discuss the following questions in the Comments below.  Are there certain items you only shop online for?  Are there items you only buy in-person?

Thing:  Sign up for our Etsy Workshop on Tuesday, March 6.  If you have an eye for vintage or handmade goods, Etsy is the place for you.  Learn all about how to run an Etsy shop from Jennifer St. Jean (one of our Tech Panel bloggers, IttyBittyBag.com).

Online vs In-Person

When it comes to shopping online I think I'm still a novice. But as I try to come up with my thoughts for this comment I have a list of things I do buy online. I have a Kindle so all my books or games are online purchases. I have an iPhone and iPad that I buy cases, the phone, apps, and service plans online. I have even bought a large box of chips from Australia, online, because my daughter just had to have them for camp. I have bought clothes online - but I think that is where I get into trouble - I like to know how something fits before I get it home. Thanks for asking this question and making me think. I'm sorry I couldn't attend todays Etsy workshop I hope you had a crowd.

online coupons...

Yes, Once you get in the habit of buying online, you should always check www.retailmenot.com and often you find free shipping at a minimum. Often, I find 10-30% off the entire purchase which is always helpful. Shopping online does save time and is convenient when you don't have a sitter to watch kids. I don't do well with returning items which can be a problem.

Shopping

I am a huge bargain shopper, so I do a lot of internet shopping, clicking from different sites (fat wallet, ebates, Chase) to get my cashback, and of course, I try to nab the best coupon codes. Most of my shopping on the internet is tax free which is another big discount. I tend to buy non-perishable items, e.g., clothing, some sporting equipment and toys. I shop at brick and mortar stores when I need to make sure something fits, e.g., ballet shoes, baseball helmets. I think I like the flexibility of internet most of all -- with three young children I shop at night or weekends.
