Dr. Rob Turrisi, expert in binge drinking and alcohol use prevention among teens and youth, will share his research concerning common misconceptions about best parenting practices and communication strategies. He will share the what’s, how’s and why’s about talking with your teen about alcohol use. His publication, A Parent Handbook for Talking with Students About Alcohol will be given to program attendees.
About the Presenter
Dr. Rob Turrisi is currently a Professor at Penn State University with a joint appointment in the Department of Biobehavioral Health and the Prevention Research Center. Dr. Turrisi also the Director of the Prevention Research to Optimize (PRO) Health Lab. Dr. Turrisi’s work focuses on developing and evaluating parent and individual-level prevention efforts to reduce alcohol abuse and alcohol-related consequences for adolescents, college students, and emerging adults. His prevention research has been supported by funds from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the National Cancer Institute for over 30 years.
