Spring has Sprung: Spring Blooms with Nielsen's Florist

Spring is always bursting with color. Before we know it, it will be here! This winter has been mild, and we can already see signs of an early season. From flowering trees, perennials and bulbs, it’s a magical time of the year. Whether you’re interested in something for inside the home or outdoor containers, Michele Blakeslee will inspire you to create.

Michele will be demonstrating fun and easy designs for your Easter table, incorporating bulbs and spring plants in containers and baskets. In addition to that, she will discuss appropriate cold tolerant plants that can be purchased now for spring containers while planting up some of her favorites in a traditional style pot.

About the Presenter

Michele Blakeslee is a horticulturist, UConn Graduate and avid gardener who is passionate about plants and pollinators. Celebrating 12 years at Nielsen’s florist this year and known to many as the plant expert or houseplant guru. Michele is known for her help with seasonal containers, educating gardeners in the community and inspiring children about the world of plants.

With a strong knowledge of herbs, Michele was mentored by the Gilbertie family on the basics of herb and organic vegetable gardening in her earlier years. A few years later, Michele established her own small landscape company providing design, installation and maintenance for perennial and ornamental gardens. Today, she continues to pass along these practical tips and convey the importance of how we can make a difference keeping our earth chemical free.
