Passport Day

Obtain your first U.S. passport or renew your existing one. Everyone is welcome to attend. Please see the following guidelines to make your appointment as easy as possible. Please print a photocopy of the front and back of your photo ID. Copies may be made in the Business Center on the Lower Level of the Library. Notaries are available free of charge at Darien Library (view notary hours.

Appointments are encouraged and walk-ins are welcome. Make an appointment.

Passports for Minors

Please note that minors under the age of 16 cannot apply for a passport by themselves. Both parents/guardians must appear in person and provide consent, authorizing passport issuance to the minor. If one parent/guardian is unable to appear in person, then the application must be accompanied by a signed, notarized Form DS-3053: Statement of Consent from the non-applying parent/guardian.

Renewing a Passport

  • A completed Passport Application Form DS-82
  • Submit old passport
  • Provide one recent passport photo at 2 x 2 inches
  • Pay fees via check, money order, or credit card. No cash is accepted.

First Time Application

  • A completed Passport Application Form DS-11
  • Submit your original birth or naturalization certificate (it will be returned to you via mail to the address listed on the DS-11 application)
  • Provide one recent passport photo at 2 x 2 inches
  • Present valid photo identification: driver's license, state ID card, employee ID, or military ID
  • Pay fees via check, money order, or credit card. No cash is accepted.

U.S. Passport Book

Valid for international travel by air, sea, and land.

  • Validity: 10 years for adults (ages 16 and up) and 5 years for minors (under age 16)
  • Cost for first time applicant: $145 for adults (age 16 and older) or $115 for minor (under age 16)
  • Cost for renewal applicants: $110 for adults (age 16 and up)

U.S. Passport Card

Valid when entering the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land or sea ports-of-entry. Not valid for international travel by air.

  • Validity: 10 years for adults (ages 16 and up) and 5 years for minors (under age 16)
  • Cost for first time applicant: $65 for adults (age 16 and older) or $50 for minor (under age 16)
  • Cost for renewal applicants: $30 for adults (age 16 and up)
