Join us for a four-week Cinematic Series featuring film historian Max Alvarez.
Last year's FX TV series "Fosse/Verdon" introduced new generations to the remarkable show business team of director/choreographer Bob Fosse and dancer/actress/wife/muse Gwen Verdon. But there are no substitutes for the originals. Join film historian Max Alvarez for this exhilarating and electrifying tribute to the real Fosse/Verdon.
The 90-minute presentation includes rare archival dance footage of the two legends as well as selections from the film versions of Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Cabaret, and such edgy Fosse masterworks as All That Jazz.
Max Alvarez is an author, film historian, and speaker on world cinematic culture. A former visiting scholar for The Smithsonian Institution and museum film curator, Max currently teaches film history for John Jay College's continuing education program, Sundays at JASA, in Manhattan. He is author of The Crime Films of Anthony Mann (University Press of Mississippi) and a major contributor to Thornton Wilder/New Perspectives (Northwestern University Press).
This program will take place on Zoom. We will email all participants the Zoom room link.
