Growing herbs in containers is rewarding, they look and taste fantastic. Most culinary herbs thrive with as little as five hours of sun and are suited for containers.

Plant along with Michele Blakeslee as she demonstrates the planting process. Let’s have some fun while learning the basics of plant care, harvesting and ways to cook with the most popular selections. Growing plants should be stress-free and enjoyable. Michele’s philosophy is to inspire people to grow plants inside the home or create outstanding gardens in the landscape.

Herb Kits are being sold through Nielsen’s Florist for $59. If you are planning on ordering a kit, please do so as soon as you are able. Your kit will be ready for pick up on Tuesday, May 18th from 3-5p.m. Make sure that you have garden gloves handy so you can follow along during the program.

About the Presenter

Horticulturist, UConn Graduate, and avid gardener, Michele Blakeslee is passionate about plants and pollinators. Celebrating 13 years at Nielsen’s Florist this year and known to many as the plant expert or houseplant guru.

Michele creates beautiful container designs, educates gardeners in the community, and inspires children about the world of plants. You can see her weekly Facebook live broadcasts or catch up on past classes through nielsensflorist.com.

With a strong knowledge of herbs, Michele was mentored by the Gilbertie family on the basics of herb and organic vegetable gardening in her earlier years. A few years later, Michele established her own small landscape company providing design, installation and maintenance for perennial and ornamental gardens. Today, she continues to pass along these practical tips and convey the importance of how we can make a difference keeping our earth chemical free.
