Program Description

Event Details

Are you interested in beekeeping? Discover the social organization and behavior of our beloved honey bee with local bee expert and BeeLove Apiaries founder, Raymond DuBois. Learn about the seasonal cycle of the hive, as well as the life cycle of an individual bee. See the relationship that the bees have with the natural world and with the humans that care for them. Sample Ray's locally produced raw honey and learn about his process.

BeeLove honey is available throughout Fairfield County and is also available at the Cafe at Darien Library.

About the Presenter

In keeping with his love for nature, and interest in environmental conservation, beekeeper and founder of BeeLove Apiaries, located in Wilton, Raymond DuBois started working with bees as a hobby in 2006, with just two hives. He became fascinated by the bees and rapidly expanded--he now keeps over 40 hives throughout Fairfield County.  What started as a hobby is now a vocation: besides managing his own hives, he sets up and manages hives for others who share his concern for the welfare of honey bees. Ray enjoys meeting the public when selling his honey, and he loves sharing what he has learned about the bees with those who are interested.
