John came to visit today and presented two of his favorite titles -- the authors who he says are the ying and the yang of the literary world: Lauren Groff's Arcadia and Jonathan Franzen's Purity. And for those in the Halloween mood a quick, fun and dark read is Black Rabbit Hall -- John says it is a "gothic Downton Abbey in decay" kind of story. And for the dog lovers out there, Lily and the Octopus, is about a cutie dachshund and her fight with cancer -- it is a dear, loving tear jerker.
Thanks John for stopping by.
More book suggestions come from the the BBTF group who have been busy with great vetted reads to share. Some are Halloween worthy, especially the DVD The Witch, which is not necessarily for the teen age crowd. It is very much for the adult history buff, anyone interested in first person diaries of the 1600's in America. Intense!
We are getting used to our new meeting hour at 3 pm and invite anyone interested in joining our reading group to come visit our meetings on Wednesday afternoons by the First Floor Fireplace. Hope to see you next week!
