Darien Library is open to visitors normal hours. Some of our programs are now available in-person outdoors. Most events continue to be held virtually. Marks are required at all times while in the building and must fully cover your mouth and nose at all times.
We do not have a date when full services and in-person programs will resume. The health and safety of our community and patrons is our top priority and we will continue to abide by federal, state, and local regulations and guidance.
Darien Library is thrilled to announce that starting on Monday, May 17th, we will resume normal hours including weekday evening hours. Below are details about what other regular activities and services will also resume that day. Thank you for your support over the past year.
Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m.
The Children’s Library closes at 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
No time limits for using the Library
Return items 24/7 through the materials handling system
Study rooms for individuals and small groups (added in July)
60-minute computer access
The return of some seating throughout the building
No appointments needed to visit the Children’s Library
Notary services resume
Holds will continue to be picked up from the Community Room
Outdoor events beginning this June and continued virtual events
Since items may be returned 24 hours a day starting May 17th, we will resume late fines on June 1st.
The following safety measures continue:
Masking is required while in the building
Enhanced cleaning procedures
Plexiglass at staffed service desks
Food and drinks are not allowed in the building at this time
