Teen Summer Challenge 2020

Welcome to the unforgettable summer of 2020. We know you miss hanging out with your friends, but might be running out of things to do in all your free time. We've got you covered. Grab a book, join us at one of our digital programs, or reach out for reading recommendations from your librarians (who miss you too!)

We're offering prizes for everyone who completes a set number of challenges in this year's event. To join, you'll want to follow the steps below and sign up at online.

The Middlesex Middle School Reading Ambassadors have selected 15 books you may want to pick up. You can watch the video or download the PDF. A huge thank you to the 6th and 7th grade Reading Ambassadors for sharing their favorite books for Summer Reading 2020!


We've gone virtual! You can join this year's challenge by signing up online. Teen Summer Reading is for tweens and teens ages 12-18. Twelve-year-olds may join either the Children or the Teen program.

QuaranTEEN Book Club

Wednesday, July 8th at 6 p.m.
Join Miss Mia for a digital book club! Bring a book you've read recently, or one of your all time favorites, and find something new to read with your fellow QuaranTEENs.

Decades Trivia

Wednesday, July 15th at 7 p.m.
Jump back in time and test your trivia skills with Miss Mia and Miss Samantha. Questions will celebrate pop culture trivia from the 80s to early 2000s!

Friendship Bracelets

Thursday, July 22nd at 7 p.m.
Register for the program, pick-up the materials from Miss Mia, and then join us online to craft and chat while making friendship bracelets. It feels like summer already!

Reverse Tie Dye

Wednesday, July 29th at 7 p.m.
Join us for a digital craft project. Learn how to use bleach to tie dye your clothes! You'll need the items listed on the page and remember to be careful when using bleach.
