Dive into the world of "prefab" with author Sheri Koones! 

Darien Library and Barrett Bookstore invite you to discover this unique housing trend, whose time has come.  Sheri will discuss housing trends and her latest book, Prefabulous For Everyone, with architect Michael Harris.

Prefabricated housing is a practical solution since it is faster to build, less expensive than site-built houses, and potentially more energy efficient―all aspects that are attractive to homeowners. Sheri will show examples of environmentally friendly, cost-effective houses, either entirely or partly built offsite.  She will be in conversation with Michael Harris, an architect and expert in the field of pre-fabrication.

About Sheri Koones

Sheri Koones is a local, recognized author of multiple books on home renovations. She has authored a series of five prefabulous books; Prefabulous For Everyone is her sixth. In it she includes a variety of prefab homes from small to large, including modular, SIPS (structural insulated panels), panelized, and kit built.

Sheri's previous books include Bigger Than Tiny, Smaller Than Average, Downsize: Living Large In a Small House, Prefabulous Small Houses, Prefabulous World: Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Homes Around the Globe, Prefabulous + Almost Off the Grid, Prefabulous and Sustainable, Prefabulous, House About It, Modular Mansions, and From Sand Castles to Dream Houses. About Michael Harris

Michael Harris is an architect by training and has been a leader in the manufactured housing industry for forty years. He is the past president and CEO of Lindal Cedar Homes, and currently is an advisor and authority on the subject of prefab housing. He has dedicated his career to innovating methods to assist aspiring homeowners fashion their living environments to accommodate the details of their lifestyles, simplify the mundane, and inspire reflection and growth.

He is the author of The Green Guide to Prefab, a series of seven full-length articles for Inhabitat.com.
