Event Details
Darien Library welcomes Pollinator Pathway president and environmental advocate, Juliet Cain, who will talk about the importance of native plants in the landscape. Juliet will share the joy of gardening with native plants and discuss how even the smallest spaces can be thoughtfully stewarded to support local birds, bees, and butterflies.
Juliet will explore the myths and histories surrounding these remarkable plants, revealing the deeper meaning and richness they add to our landscapes.
About the Presenter
Juliet Cain has been a resident of Darien for over 20 years. Since retiring from the practice of law in New York City, she has focused on environmental issues. She served on the Policy on Resilient Forests for CT’s Future (the PRFCT Future) working group 2021 – 2022 and on the CT GC3 Climate Smart Agriculture & Forestry working group in 2022. She was Chair of the Conservation Committee of the Garden Club of Darien and Zone Representative for the Conservation Committee of the Garden Club of America from 2020 - 2022.
Juliet is an accredited organic land care professional certified by CT Northeast Organic Farming Association. She is a cofounder of the Darien Pollinator Pathway which seeks to eliminate the use of pesticides and to restore pollinator populations through native plantings, a member of Connecticut Advocates for Trees, a statewide tree organization advocating for the protection of trees and a co-founder of Darien Green Wave, a local advocacy group. Juliet is a Stewardship Advisor to the Darien Land Trust which protects over 230 acres of land in Darien, with a focus on native planting restoration and is a member of the Connecticut State Advisory Board of the Conservation Law Foundation.
