Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a hands-introduction to one of the world's most enchanting instruments. We will begin with a brief journey through the harp's history, from its origins in Ancient Egypt to the elegant concert harps of today.

Students will learn the basics of harp technique, including how to identify the strings, play a C major scale, and perform simple songs and rounds.

Together we will explore the joy of ensemble playing by creating harmonies, playing in rounds, and even trying out some special effects for improvisation. No prior experience is required, just curiosity and a love of music!

About Harpist

Eilidh was born in Inverness, Scotland, and began studying the Clarsach (Celtic harp) at age seven. She went on to train at Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London, later performing internationally with ensembles such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Her versatility has led her to collaborate with artists including Andrea Bocelli and Sir Paul McCartney, and she has performed for members of both the Thai and British Royal Families.

A dedicated teacher as well as a performer, Eilidh founded harp programs in Bangkok and Singapore, where she was also in demand for orchestral, opera, and luxury brand events. Since moving to Darien in 2022, she has shared her music locally through teaching and community workshops with her project SparkHarp. She was recently Artist in Residence at the Suzuki School of Music in Westport and appeared with the Christmas Spectacular Orchestra at Radio City.
