Program Description

Event Details

Darien Library, along with Norwalk Public Library, is thrilled to celebrate Juneteenth with the Ubuntu Storytellers, a diverse group of Black, brown, and biracial professional storytellers. They will share their messages of triumph and jubilation, but also their experiences with discrimination, racism, and microaggressions. These stories of "being" and of "being in the skin we are in" aim to engage and open hearts, as well as deepen our empathy, inspiring us to be different and make a difference.

The spirit of Ubuntu translates to "I am, because you are" and relates to the fact that we as humans are all connected and can only grow and progress through the growth and progression of others. Humans are connected to each other and what we do affects the whole world.

Please note that this program is geared towards adults in its content.
