Program Description

Event Details

The Programming Department has arranged for a private tour of the Mather Homestead.

Join us for a tour of the Mather Homestead, located on the “four corners” of Stephen Mather and Brookside Roads. The house was built in 1778 by Deacon Joseph Mather, son of Moses Mather, the fiery patriot and first minister at the First Congregational Church of Darien (then Middlesex Parish).

It tells stories of the Revolutionary War (it was raided by Tories!), and generations later it was the home of Stephen Tyng Mather, the first Director of the National Park Service. Come for tea and stories about this home’s rich past!

We would love for you to join us on this special outing.

If you sign up, but realize you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible.
