Event Details

Join the integrative team from Wellness Insights for a dynamic and informative panel discussion designed to give you the tools to support the unique needs of adolescent female athletes. Featuring Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Annie Harrington, Doctor of Physical Therapy Becky Nardi, and Psychotherapist Meaghan Hetherington, this talk brings together experts who work collaboratively under one roof to care for the "whole" athlete, mind, body, and spirit.

During this talk we will explore the physical and hormonal shifts of puberty and how to minimize injury risk by adapting training strategies, including critical nutritional strategies for fueling young bodies for health and performance. The panel will also offer guidance on how to build psychological resilience through a positive, body-functional environment that prioritizes health first to ensure long-term athletic success

About the Panelists

Annie Harrington is an Integrative Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 16 years of experience in hospital-based medicine. After earning her BSN from the University of Virginia and her MSN from New York University, she transitioned from in-patient clinical to private practice with a focus on lifestyle medicine and proactive wellness. Specializing in nutrition education for children and families, Annie pursued additional training in Nutrition Science, Integrative Medicine and Culinary Nutrition and now works to help young athletes and their parents understand how nutrition is essential to fuel performance and build lasting health foundations.

Becky Nardi is an Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience. She earned both her Master’s and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University and achieved board-certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association. Previously, Becky was a partner with a physical therapy practice in Manhattan. After relocating to Connecticut with her family, she served as Clinical Director for HSS at Stamford Hospital at Chelsea Piers. Becky is deeply committed to promoting lifelong health, injury prevention, and optimal function. In 2022, she founded her private practice, where she delivers expert, evidence-based, and compassionate care tailored to each individual—providing services both in the comfort of patients’ homes and at Wellness Insights in Darien.

Meaghan Hetherington is a psychoanalytically-trained psychotherapist. In her clinical practice, she works with adults and adolescents experiencing a range of emotional, mental health and life issues. Meaghan draws upon a range of clinical theories and knowledge, including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, to promote emotional health and wellbeing. Meaghan practices therapy within Wellness Insights, a Darien-based multidisciplinary collaboration of healthcare providers. She has lived with her family in Darien for seven years, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Darien Nature Center for five years. Meaghan is particularly interested in how nature promotes physical and emotional health in people, and how people can better care for the environment.
