Museum Passes

Darien Library is excited to offer free passes or discounted rates to museums, zoos, and cultural destinations in the CT area and New York City.


How It Works

  • Museum passes cannot be reserved. Our passes are offered on a first-come; first-served basis. Please call the Welcome Desk at 203-669-5239 to see which passes are available that day. We will hold the pass for 1 hour at the Welcome Desk.
  • Please return to the Welcome Desk by 12 noon on day 3 (1 p.m. on Sundays)
  • One pass per family. Library card holder must be over the age of 18 years.
  • Only one pass may be checked out at a time. Limited to two per month per household.
  • Late fees are $5 per day. If a pass is lost, you will need to pay the full replacement cost which varies per pass.

American Museum Of Natural History building

American Museum of Natural History

One of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, it is renowned for its exhibitions and scientific collections that cover the planet and world cultures.

  • Each pass consists of 2 vouchers.
  • Each voucher admits 1 guest and is valid for 1 ticket to a Special Exhibition.
  • Children under 3 are free.
  • If lost, the replacement fee is $65.

Patrons must make an online reservation to enter the Museum lobby. At the Museum, visit the Membership Desk in the lobby to exchange the vouchers for a timed entry ticket into the museum and the special exhibit of their choice.

Bush-Holley House Museum

The Bush-Holley House in Greenwich is a National Historic Landmark and historic house museum, constructed circa 1730. In the late 19th century, it was a boarding house and the center of Connecticut’s first art colony.

  • This pass admits 2 adults and accompanying children under the age of 18.
  • The pass includes access to museum galleries, special exhibitions, and guided tours of the Bush-Holley House.

If lost, the replacement fee is $65.

Discovery Science Center & Planetarium

Sacred Heart University’s Discovery Science Center & Planetarium is a hands-on science museum that seeks to enhance STEAM learning and space education. Based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the center is an educational resource aimed at enriching families and encouraging creativity through science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematic activities.

  • This pass admits 4 children with 1 paying adult ($18 per adult).
  • If lost, the replacement fee is $200.

Earthplace

Earthplace in Westport is a 62-acre nature and wildlife sanctuary committed to building respect for the natural world and a more sustainable community. Offering educational programs, walking trails, picnic spots, and the opportunity to spend time with nature, Earthplace is where science, conservation, and education meet!

  • This pass admits the pass holder and up to 5 guests.
  • 10% discount at Nature’s Gift Shop.
  • If lost, the replacement fee is $100.

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

Visit American military ships and explore maritime history at Intrepid. You'll visit an aircraft carrier, a space shuttle, a submarine, and a record-breaking British Airways Concorde.

  • This pass provides free admission for 2 adults and 2 children plus discounted guest tickets of $18 per adult and $13 per child.
  • Access to the express, Members-only admission line.
  • A valid library card must be presented with this pass at the museum.
  • If lost, the replacement fee is $500.

Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

  • Each pass admits 5 adults (children under 16 are admitted for free) and discounted tickets of $5 per person for 5 additional guests.

Stamford Museum & Nature Center

Stepping Stones Museum

Their mission is to broaden and enrich the educational opportunities for children ages ten and under and enhance their understanding of the world. Stepping Stones Museum for Children is a fun, colorful, and engaging environment.

  • Pass admits one free admission with each regular paid admission ($18 per adult, $18 per child, $14 per senior over age 62).
  • Free for children under 1 and active-duty military personnel and their families in the same household.
  • Maximum of 3 free admissions will be available per party, per day.
  • This pass may only be used by one party per day.
  • If lost, the replacement fee is $100.

The Met
